Brett Gray, 22, is an American actor, singer and songwriter from Philadelphia, PA best known for his breakout role as Jamal Turner on Netflix’ coming-of-age comedy series ‘On My Block’.
The series won Teen Choice Award for Breakout Show of 2018, was listed in the top 10 of Google's 2018 trending TV shows, and recently announced as the most binged show of 2018 on Netflix.

In May 2018, Brett launched his music career with the release of his debut single 'Old Thing Back' described as "a sunshine-drenched slice of laid-back R&B" by NME. In August 2018, he released his debut EP 'Easy Daze' which included five R&B tracks. His most recent single, S.O.S, dropped in October 2018.
Brett's foray into music was a natural progression for him, as he hails from the world of musical theater. In 2004, at age 8, Brett’s mother enrolled him in the New Freedom Theater Program in Philadelphia, PA.
In 2006, Brett starred in his first professional show, 'Little Eyolf', at the University of the Arts and soon after was cast as Scipio in the controversial opera 'Porgy and Bess' at the Academy of Music.
In 2010, Brett enrolled in The Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts and took a part-time job working at McDonald’s. Upon graduation, Brett booked a lead role in 'The Radio City Music Spectacular' in New York City and started training with the Barrow Group.
In 2017, Brett booked his first off-broadway play 'Esai’s Table' and scored a lead role in the world premiere of Andrew Lippa's new musical 'Man In The Ceiling' at the Bay Street Theater in the Hamptons, directed by Jeffrey Seller, executive producer of Hamilton.
Brett played a small role in Gabourey Sidibe's directorial debut ‘The Tale of 4’, produced in part by Refinery29. He was cast in NBC’s coming-of-age drama ’Rise’ and can be seen in the pilot. He ultimately left the show when offered his dream role in a new coming-of-age comedy series on Netflix called ‘On My Block’.
In February 2018, Brett made his network television debut in a heart-wrenching episode of Law & Order SVU.
In March 2018, On My Block: Season 1 was released on Netflix.
Brett was cast in Ava Duvernay's four-episode narrative series about the Central Park Five case, which will premiere on Netflix in 2019.
In May 2019, Brett will be back on stage at the Linda Gross Theater, as Zach in the world premiere musical, The Secret Life of Bees, based on the best-selling novel by Sue Monk Kidd.
On My Block Season 2 will return to Netflix in early spring 2019.
